Dear Parents and Students,

It is with excitement that I have joined the A.F. Herndon family. This will be an amazing year filled with exploration and learning opportunities. Throughout our school year we must remember that it will take everyone to ensure our students success because “failure is not an option.”

I believe that all students can learn and will learn if we expect great things from them. My goal as the principal of Herndon Elementary School is to ensure that all students receive targeted instruction which supports the development of a highly functioning member of society through instructional rigor, cultural relevance, and relationship building. Our goals will be reached by providing a safe, and nurturing environment that supports independent confident learners. School must a place where all are valued and appreciated for what they can bring to the classroom, school, and community. We will focus on creating an instructional environment that will afford students the opportunity to reach his or her highest potential, and build a learning community that will foster enthusiasm for life-long learning.

I have an “open door” policy, and I think you will find me to be an open, and honest person. Your communication with us is very important.
