Principal

 May 3, 2012

Greetings,

We are quickly approaching the end of another great school year at E. L. Connally Elementary School. It has been my pleasure to serve as your interim principal, and I am excited about seeing all of you at our end-of-year activities.

However, before addressing end-of-year activities, I find myself compelled to first address post-CRCT instruction. Monday, April 30, 2012, marked the beginning of our District-Wide Post-CRCT Support Program. This year, students in 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades who fail to obtain a passing score on the Spring CRCT Administration will participate in a retest administration prior to the end of the school year. Retest dates are May 17th and May 18th.

During the week of May 14th, we anticipate the results of the Spring CRCT Administration. However, we are continuing our focus on rigorous instruction, to ensure that all students are prepared to meet or exceed expectations, should they be required to retest. In light of this need for increased focus on targeted instruction, we encourage parents to continue to honor attendance expectations and provide support for students at home.

This year, end-of-year activities will include Field Day and  School-Wide Awards and Recognition Programs. Field Day will be held Friday, May 11th from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. It should be noted that students must be present at E. L. Connally the entire day to participate in Field Day.  The E. L. Connally Awards and Recognition Program for kindergarten will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, May 21st. The program for Fifth Grade Academy will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, May 22nd. The program for first through fourth grades will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 22nd. The attire for these programs is “Dress for Success”, which entails slacks, dress shirts, skirts, blouses, suits, and dresses without tennis shoes.

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week, May 7th - 11th. Let’s show our teachers how much we appreciate them! Finally, I’d like to reiterate that there will not be a summer CRCT Retest Administration after May 18th. Let’s continue to encourage all of our students to pursue learning excellence for the remainder of the school year!

Sincerely,

Tresa Andrews

Interim Principal
