Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School is one of the hubs of the Vine City Community.  What makes us unique is the seamless relationship we have cultivated between our students and their parents, our school, and our community and business partners.

Because of these extraordinary partnerships, our students have been in the presence of presidents, vice presidents, CEOs,  and CFOs of major corporations; architects, engineers, designers, construction managers, attorneys, editors, professional college educated football and basketball players, professors, consultants, and bankers; to name a few.  They have toured college campuses such as Spelman and Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.  They’ve dialogued with Ms. Ingrid Saunders Jones, Senior Vice President, The Coca-Cola Company, as their Principal for a Day, and have talked with and entertained Ms. Susan Taylor, former editor, Essence Magazine; Mr. Frank Ski, V103 Radio personality and philanthropist, and with Congressman John Lewis.  They have ridden in white limousines with their parents to dine at Landon’s Restaurant with Executive Chef and Proprietor, Chef Donald Wilson, to celebrate their accomplishments and successes.

Their artwork lines the walls of the Georgia World Congress Center, the fourth largest convention center in the United States of America!   They’ve watched in amazement while the GWCC security staff stopped traffic on Northside Drive to allow them and their families, Bethune's faculty and staff to cross safely as they walked to the Georgia Aquarium to study aquatic life.  Kindergarteners through fifth graders most recently participated in a Mock Election to convey their choice for the presidency of the United State of America, to better understand the significance of voting, then celebrated at our annual Fall Festival after school, and watched the Bethune Eagles football players return to our school as undefeated champions; all in a day’s work.
